HerStory

Turning History into HerStory, because every milestone matters. We feature and celebrate our woman brigade who have been an integral part of the RBL Bank story.

Itisha Madhav has been with RBL Bank for over 3 years. Let’s know more about her journey.

Q: Which aspects of the Bank’s culture have been most empowering in your professional journey?

A: The most empowering aspect of RBL Bank’s culture is ownership and trust. That level of autonomy, backed by strong governance truly elevated my confidence and sharpened my strategic thinking.
Another key aspect is the openness to innovation and cross-functional collaboration. I was able to introduce agile frameworks, smart toolchains, and risk-aligned automation because the culture here doesn’t resist change — it welcomes it, as long as it adds value.
Finally, the respect for diverse perspectives, especially from leaders with unconventional career paths like mine — made me feel seen, valued, and empowered to bring my whole self to the role.

Q: From the first day to today what is the one value at RBL Bank that has remained constant and continues to inspire you?

A: From my first day to today, the one value that has remained constant and continues to inspire me is our unwavering commitment to excellence with integrity. The Bank consistently upholds a culture where doing things the right way matters just as much as doing them efficiently. This integrity-driven excellence has shaped my leadership journey, empowered my decision-making, and reinforced my belief that long-term impact comes from values-led execution.

Q: What’s your proudest achievement at the Bank and how did the organization enable it?

A: It was a high-impact initiative that not only strengthened our internal control framework but also played a critical role during annual regulatory inspection of our department.
I was empowered to take ownership, challenge legacy systems, and bring in smarter, tech-driven risk management tools aligned with our DevOps methodology. The leadership supported innovation while maintaining a strong compliance backbone, and that balance helped me deliver measurable outcomes – like improving our cost-income ratio and streamlining risk assessments.

Q: How has the Bank supported your growth both as a professional and as an individual?

A: RBL Bank has supported my growth in becoming a well-rounded leader. Professionally, the Bank entrusted me with high-impact roles in PMO and governance, giving me the autonomy to lead strategic initiatives and handling RBI inspection parameters. That level of trust allowed me to sharpen my skills in risk management, digital transformation, and agile project delivery.
I had the space to bring my diverse experience — from Defence to Entrepreneurship — into play, and my voice was heard in cross-functional conversations.

Q: Looking back at your journey, what would you tell other women about building a career at RBL Bank?

A: RBL Bank is a place where your ideas, your voice, and your potential are truly valued. It’s an organization that doesn’t just talk about inclusion — it practices it.
Whether you're stepping into a strategic project or navigating a complex operational challenge, the Bank gives you the platform to lead, innovate, and grow. What matters here is your capability, your integrity, and your willingness to make an impact — not your gender!
For women aspiring to build a meaningful career, RBL Bank offers not just opportunities, but also a culture of trust and empowerment that allows you to evolve as a leader on your own terms.
