CGS-I Scheme
The Scheme shall be known as the Credit Guarantee Fund Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGS-I) [earlier known as Credit Guarantee Fund Scheme for Small Industries (CGFSI)]. The Board of Trustees of Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) had framed a Scheme for the purpose of providing guarantees in respect of credit facilities extended by Lending Institutions to the borrowers in Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) category.
The Scheme had come into force from August 1, 2000, and had covered eligible credit facilities extended by the lending institutions to eligible borrowers effective from June 1, 2000.

Eligible Borrowers:

New or existing Micro and Small Enterprises

Must hold valid Udyam Registration Certificate

Should not be classified as NPA or in default with any lending institutions
Exclusions:

Loans already covered under other schemes (e.g., NCGTC)

Loans with full collateral or third-party guarantees
-
Loans inconsistent with RBI/GoI directives

Credit facility sanctioned without obtaining/creation of any primary security
Eligible Credit Facilities:

Fund-based: Term loans, working capital

Non-fund-based: Bank guarantees, letters of credit
Guarantee Coverage:
-
Maximum coverage: Up to INR 10 Crore per borrower

Ranges from 75% to 85% of the amount in default
-
Women-led enterprises: Coverage enhanced to 90%

Tenure: Up to block of 5 years or as per loan terms
