Chandan Sinha is on the Board of the Bank since May 21, 2021.
Chandan has been a career central banker for over 35 years and associated with banking & financial services for over 40 years. As Executive Director in RBI (April 2014 - May 2017) his responsibilities covered areas such as supervision of banks & non-banks, debt management, foreign exchange department, financial market regulation, payment & settlement systems, information technology and management of forex reserves.
Post-retirement, he served as the Additional Director as well as the Interim Director at the Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL) till November 2020. He has held other key positions outside RBI like Chief Investment Officer of Postal Life Insurance (GoI); Director, Indian Institute of Bank Management and Chief Dealer, Securities Trading Corporation of India.
Till recently, he was the RBI nominee director on the board of State Bank of India. Earlier, he has been a nominee Director on the Boards of Allahabad Bank, Union Bank of India, ECGC and Reserve Bank Information Technology Ltd. (ReBIT).
In the recent past, he chaired the Working Group to review guidelines for hedging commodity price risk (RBI/2017) and was Member of Committee on Digital Payments (GoI/2017) and on Development of Housing Securitisation Market (RBI/2019).
He has represented RBI on international committees of Financial Stability Board (FSB) on Bank Resolution and Bank of International Settlements (BIS) on Banking Supervision and on Payments & Market infrastructures, and the EMEAP forum on Forex Markets. He has co-authored BIS papers on Corporate Bond Market Development in India and on Indian Financial Openness and Integration with SE Asian Countries. Has been a trainer for international institutions on banking regulation & debt market development and a panellist at international events on cyber security, digitisation etc.
Chandan holds a Master's degree in Physics from St. Stephens College, Delhi University and his professional qualifications include MBA in Finance and CAIIB.
